My name is Tommy Buxton, aka RTBux. I was born in Ashland, Ohio, Home of the late Tim Richmond. I have resided in Raleigh, NC since 1970. I am married to Trisha, the most wonderful and loving wife that anyone could ask for. I have 1 step-son, 2 step-daughters, and 1 daughter who have blessed us with 7 of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world, with another one on the way. 🙂 The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful and healthy family for which I am very thankful.
I began my racing career at the age of 14, racing go-carts. I raced 4 cylinders, then street stocks here locally on dirt in the mid 80’s. I won my first race on a half mile fairgrounds flat track in my second year. Man was that exciting. I had a friend that had a latemodel dirt car who let me drive for him in 3 races while he healed from some broken ribs, man was that ever fun. I actually raced against Loy Allen Jr in those races. He drove the Hooters car after Allen Kulwicki’s death. I didn’t do so well in the faster cars, but it was a great experience. I didn’t mind running in the rear because I was having so much fun going fast. Made me realize it was not always about being first. Besides, those guys needed someone to beat!
I began my online racing career in the very beginning on Hawaii and have been hooked ever since. No rainy days, no body work, no skinned knuckles, the wrecks don’t hurt, man this is great! Oh, and did I mention that my pocket still has some money in it now? Sure never seemed to with any other form of racing I have done. I have sent some pics from the Myrtle Beach Lan tournament in May of 2001. I won 2 races and finished a respectable 3rd overall in the Busch Grand National Division.
I enjoy racing with you guys, CYA at the track!
