My name is Joshua Hawthorne, I race in the #04 machines on race nights. I am from Gainesville, FL home of the Florida Gators but because of my job in the US Navy I am currently living in Yokosuka, Japan. I am engaged at to my best friend named Elecia and we have a wonderful little girl named Jaelyn.
I fell in love with racing early on in my life when my father introduced me to remote control cars (R/C cars) around the age of 4 and brought me to his friend’s track to race them every weekend. I had the passion for racing but between moving, finishing school and joining the military it just didn’t happen. Even though I wasn’t able to compete I still enjoyed watching Nascar and going to the local short track races, there is nothing like watching small town short tracking racing(my opinion of course).
I also enjoyed playing console racing games and had played a few Nascar computer games as well but nothing much online just more arcade style. It wasn’t until about March of 2014 when I was watching a youtube video looking for new racing games and stumbled across a guy who was talking about a racing rig that he had built for Iracing. From the first moment I saw him race in the street stock cars at Charlotte I told myself I have to try this game which as I now know is in fact a Sim. I didn’t have much, just a laptop, a flat screen tv, and a xbox 360 controller but I signed up and took the track in my first street stock race. I finished 12th but I was hooked, I packed up the console and built a rig of my own over the next 6 months.
After playing in the open servers for a few weeks I learned of league play and began my search for a league to join. The first one I joined didn’t last long but it made the racing even more intense than the open server racing which keep me looking for more leagues. Then I came across the Christian Racing League and the description matched what I was looking for and I have been racing in this league since May of 2014 and have enjoyed every one of the races I have been apart of. I can’t thank everyone that makes the races happen week in and week out. The cleanest most competitive racing you will find on Iracing(my opinion of course).
I am in Japan at the moment and unable to make most of the races which increases my passion for this racing that much more. The league has grown since I have been here in Japan and I can’t wait until I am able to rejoin on a full time basis. I am honored and proud to be a part of this league. As League President Brian Barkley would say “See you on the track”.
