Jim Flanagan

Hi, My name is Jim Flanagan or Barefoot Jim on the track. I’m one of the old boys on Christian Racing at the age of 51. So if I run into you during a race, please forgive me, it could be I had a senior moment and forgot where I was. Kidding aside I’m very new to the on-line racing thing and learning as I go. I would like to thank all of you for your patients with me, you have been chosen to teach me how to race, staying off the wall and out of the, “Look out Knewt she’s heading for the grass.”

I live in La Puente California, which is just east of LA, with my wife of 31 years Sandy. We have two Children Kelly age 27 and Jim Jr age 25. Both still living in Southern California. We moved here to California from a small town in Upstate NY called Canandaigua, where we as a family would go to the local dirt track on Saturday night and watch the modified and stock boys bump and grind on a 1/2 mile track.

I’m a semi retired Southern Baptist Minister, and a owner operator of a Equestrian Center in Chino Ca. I say semi retired because I have no formal church, we do however have a cowboy service at the Equestrian Center every Sunday and I still minister to the needs of some of the people at the Center. The Equestrian Center has a boarding facility and a rent string, for those who do not own horses. We also have horse shows and other equestrian events, gearing them toward the family. To add to this my wife and I have begun to breed and show Morgan horses.

The Morgan horse is a true American horse first breed in New England back in the 1700’s. The pictures I have chosen to share with you are of my wife Sandy our horse Shamrock and our English rider/trainer Courtney. I missed some time racing with you guys and gals in October because we went to the Grand National / World Championship Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City. Our horse qualified for Grand National by winning three classes in the West Coast Regional Championship back in August. We did not bring back to California a World Championship, however we did come back with two fifth places and a seventh place finish in a World Championship class. It was quite a thrill that we never dreamed of being able to do. God has blessed us in many ways this past year.

Now back to racing, one day I will win a race and you guys will be able to here me yell across the country. Thank you all for being my racing fellowship, and if you do not mined, I will continue to tell everyone about the friends I have made racing, even you Jake ok m8.

Thanks for being there and may God bless all of you.
