My wife Joyce, son Ryan, daughter Mariah, and me in the back
My name is Eric Harlan. I race under the name of Chickenman. I was born in February of 1965 in Burien, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. I now live in a small town called Lynden, Washington. Which is about 100 miles north of Seattle and 2 miles south of Canada. I have been married twice, currently for 8 years. We have 3 children, Michael 23, Mariah 15, and Ryan 11.
I served in the Air Force from 1983 to 1986, stationed in New Hampshire while working on Satellite Communications Systems. I spent a few years as a truck driver — loved the work hated the hours. I also spent 4 years working with physically and mentally challenged adults — loved the work but it didn’t pay well as it was a non profit organization. For the past 7 years, I have been employed with Comcast as a cable guy.
Growing up I was raised as a Lutheran, but didn’t really become a Christian until I joined Community Baptist Church. Where I learned what it meant to accept and have a personal relationship Jesus Christ. I now attend Sunrise Baptist Church in Custer, WA
I have been a race fan since the early 80’s when I started attending the local dirt track races at Skagit Speedway. Once the home of the now famous Kasey Kahne. I also attended races at Evergreen Speedway, the Molson Indy Vancouver and twice I’ve been to California Speedway. My sim racing career began when a co-worker invited me over to play what I think was Nascar 1 on his PC. I loved the game and have been racing ever since. It wasn’t until N3 came out that I started racing on a regular basis. My first league was OFL (Old Farts League). Since then I’ve raced with OVSRL(Ohio Valley Sim Racing League) and FCRL(Freedom Christian Racing League). I now race with CR(Christian Racing League) which is where I plan to stay.
