Doug Kimball #42

Christian Racing Driver Bio

My name is Douglas Kimball. My friends call me Doug (or other unmentionables). I was born in Seattle Washington in 1960 and am the youngest of three boys. My father is a retired Navy aviator and my mother is…well, she’s my mom. 🙂 I spent most of my first twenty some years living on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound in the great Pacific Northwest. We lived in the country on the beach and have very good memories of my childhood and friends and the fun we had.

I was baptized in the Southern Baptist church when I was ten then shortly after that we attended the local holy rollin’, amen, hallelujah, bible thumpin’, camp meetin’ Assembly of God Church. That church was rockin’ on Sunday nights. Sunday school, youth group, summer church camp, a very busy and fun time of my life. I was on the track team at school and being a distance runner is where I think I learned that passing someone on the outside was sooooo much fun on the track! lol

At twenty-one I had lost both brothers to Cystic Fibrosis. The oldest left at a much earlier age. Sad for me for sure but, so very sad for my parents. Relocating shortly after to the Boise area in southwestern Idaho where aunts and uncles and cousins live we settled down while I found a quite little farming town just across the Oregon border called Ontario just a half hour drive away from my parents home. I worked several years at a glass shop doing a lot of glass cutting and installing auto glass. In 1991 the state built there largest prison just out of town. I looked into it and a few years later I decided to try it out. I’ve been there ever since as a correctional officer keeping a watchful eye as 3000 inmates do there time. An interesting job to say the least but, I do enjoy it.

One winter day I stepped inside a bank and saw the prettiest and darkest brown eyes that I have ever seen. It was then that I lost my sanity and decided to toss my care free bachelor life aside and pursue this new found interest. Kim and I have been married for 14 years now with a 13 year old daughter and a 21 year old step son. She’s perfect in every way except she likes country music so I took her to a Van Halen concert just recently. I don’t think she’s forgiven me for that yet but I do believe her hearing is finally coming back. lol We recently started to snow ski and I also love to play city rec basketball in the winter along with some volleyball too with my father.

As a child I loved to watch NASCAR on, I believe it was The Wide World of Sports on the weekends. I mostly looked forward to the Daytona 500 that was televised every year and the Indy 500 too. Richard Petty was my driver then and still is even though he’s retired. I didn’t follow NASCAR too much during Dale Earnhardt’s years but I knew who he was. I really got back into NASCAR again a while back when cable TV finally came to my town. Then, I received NASCAR 4 for Christmas in 2001 and that started it all. Video cards, steering wheels, new computers……it’ll never end. lol I found Christian Racing when I was getting tired of racing on the open servers. You all know what I mean. A little intimidated to join a league I wanted one that would have a lot of patience for the “newbie”. I saw the Christian Racing server and remembered how great the christian people were that I knew when I was younger and decided to sign up. Ray was so very nice and I knew I had found the right place. I love to listen on the talk programs while racing and sometimes get to laughing so hard that my wife has to step into the room to see just what’s going on. lol I’ve been to a NASCAR race at Las Vegas and plan on going again soon.

I also plan on racing here at Christian Racing as long as Brent keeps letting this “newbie” from Oregon hang around the track. Thanks for the fun everbody…………………Doug
