Randy Alvey

Hello my name is Randy Alvey, I have lived in Henderson, Kentucky since moving here with my parents in 1976. I graduated high school in 1979. I met my beautiful wife Darla while working at Wendy’s hamburgers (must be where my love for food came fromJ). We married 2 years after graduation and have been married 23 years in August, long enough to become proud Grandparents of Naomi Elizabeth, the Daughter of our son Roger and his wife Jaime. I have been employed as a toolmaker for 25 years and have been at Sunrise Tool & Die, in Henderson for the past 11 years.

Christian Racing Driver Bio

I don’t remember when I actually got saved as a kid, but I rededicated my life to Jesus in October of 1998. I remember it was a Sunday afternoon and I was at home watching a race on TV, my wife Darla was at church. I just felt the Spirit of the Lord tell me it was time to get back in church. I got up changed clothes and went. When I got to church, I sat in the back, they were having very good praise and worship. At the end of the service they had an alter call, I walked up behind my wife, tapped her on the shoulder and said lets go. Got baptized the next week then laid the cigarettes on the alter a week after that. I have been in church smoke free ever since. Praise God. My favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I started drag racing after we got married running a 1970 Chevelle. But my love has always been dirt tracks so after a few years of boring myself going in a straight line(and my wife beating me a few times), my older brother and I bought a modified sportsman. We ran a few years swapping each week as driver at local dirt tracks from Clarksville TN to Chandler IN. Raced a non-wing sprint car a few times at Putnamville, Bloomington and Terrehaute IN. Never did win any races, but I did cash a few checks. Never enough to pay the way, so when our son started in school, the racing days diminished. (Priorities, priorities) ☺

I have been racing online since around May of 2002 when SkinnyDawg told me about this cool Christian Racing series he had joined. I started racing with the Wrangler pro stock with a dial up connection. After gaining a few memories like leading at Watkins Glen with one lap to go and leaving to go disco dancing. I have since upgraded to a wireless connection, which still gets warpy sometimes, but I haven’t gotten disco’d much and it has been great. I now run in the Wrangler Pro Series on Fridays with a great group of fellow racers. I am a member of the Racing For Jesus family and run the Christmen Truck Series on Wednesday nights.
