Jerry Hammontree

My name is Jerry Hammontree, aka RoadHawk. I’m not married, I have no kids, and my computer is in my living room. I’ve been hooked on this NASCAR game since the first one came out. I know that the evolution of my computer has been tied to the latest NASCAR game requirements. I used to be able to race the computer players on my computer during lunch at work, and my coworkers would gather around, eat their lunch and watch me drive. I even did some racing on TEN a few times. When I got N4 I got into the Internet racing scene which was so much better than racing against the computer. I joined a small league for a while, but there wasn’t ever enough drivers in a race to make it very interesting. I had noticed the Christian Racing server and thought, with my own Christian faith, maybe this would be a better place to race, so I searched for the web site on the Internet and signed up. Gary Ridgeway was my Racing Partner and he helped me get acquainted with all the events, leagues, passwords, etc. Everything else is history. Being a member of Christian Racing has been great, to say the least! I told my brother, Jack, about it and he joined, too. You know him as KCDEUCE. Racing with you all has been excellent fun. Everyone here tries his or her best to race clean and courteous. The friendships I’ve made through the racing lobby, the forums, the “Teams” and emails are carried over to some incredible racing fun on the track. I like the fact the we all try to help each other be better drivers through encouragement and sharing racing tips and ideas. I’m always looking forward to the next race. One of the things I like about the racing is you never know what’s going to happen. It’s always different and challenging. I’m usually my worst enemy on the track….he he he….. If I’m patient enough, though, I’ll have a blast, win or loose. But I think I win every time I’m able race clean and finish! It’s a kick just being in the show!

Christian Racing Driver Bio

Off the track:
I Grew up in Grain Valley, a small town just 20 miles east of Kansas City, Mo. I became a Christian while I was in high school. I joined the Navy one month after High School graduation in June, 1968. While in the Navy I was trained as an Aircraft Electrician and was attached to an Attack Squadron near Jacksonville, Florida, where I worked on A4 Skyhawks and A7 Corsairs. I went to the Mediterranean sea with my squadron, VA-66, aboard 2 different Aircraft Carriers, the USS Forestall and the USS Independence. After the Navy, I attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo. where I graduated in 1975 with a degree in Drafting and have worked as a Mechanical Draftsman since then. In 1997 I enrolled at Johnson County Community College, in the Information Technology Program and graduated in 2001 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology.

Golf is another passion. I’m not great golfer but I do get those 2 or 3 shots in a game that gets me wanting to come back and play again. I also collect coins, special event newspapers and some comic books and baseball cards. I like to read Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum novels. I built a radio controlled glider which I crashed over at Jack’s place a few years ago (I’ve still got to fix that wing). I get together with my single friends and go dancing once or twice a month, too. Well, that’s about it. You’re probably wanting to get back to racing by now. Good luck and God bless! Jesus loves you!
