Hi my name is Cole Barnes. I am 12 years old and live in Mokena, Illinois. I have 3 siblings. Rick who is 17, Justin who is 11, and Courteney who is 10. I have been a Nascar fan ever since I can remember. My dad and mom are both big racing fans, so it came natural for me to watch it and eventually like it. My favorite driver is Jeff Gordon. I have been to 3 NASCAR races in my life. Both of them were at Chicagoland and it is such a blast. I have been racing online for about 4 years. My first online race was a kids only race in the FenderBenders racing league in 2004. We raced at Daytona and I came in second place, losing to Jeff Russell’s son. I have raced in FBRL, WORL and now Christian Racing. I won my first race in the Christian Racing League two weeks ago at Texas in the ARCA series. Jeff Russell, who is teammates with my dad, has taught me a lot about online racing. Him, my dad and I used to practice a lot when ARCA first came out. I love racing with all the guys at Christian Racing and really appreciate that they allow me to race even though I am only 12. I wish I could race more, but obviously I have to go to school and can’t very often.
I LOVE baseball. My favorite team is the Chicago Cubs. I have been playing travel baseball for 4 years on the Mokena Blaze. My dad is our coach. I play shortstop and pitch a lot on the team. I have a dream about playing baseball in the major leagues and am trying to work hard so that dream can be a reality. This year our team went to Cooperstown, NY for a baseball tournament. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was probably the best experience of my life. Our team did not do very well but the place was magnificent!! There were 22 baseball fields and it was basically a cross between military camp and Disney World! I just had a blast there!
Our family tries to go to Disney World about once a year. I absolutely love that place! There is so much to do there and I just love hanging out with the family, just relaxing and having a great time. We are going to go there in October and I can’t wait to get to there!
I play basketball for my school team and that is a blast. Last year we went undefeated in our conference and won the championship. This year we are hoping to get to go to state. I am in 3 of 4 honor classes at our school and got straight A’s for the whole school year. For getting the straight A’s I got to go to any restaurant in the Chicago area with just my mom and dad. It was a good time just being able to hang out with my mom and dad.
I again thank all the people at Christian Racing for accepting me into your league. I have a blast all the time racing with you guys. Hopefully I will continue to race with many of you guys in the future of Christian Racing!
