Brian Barkley #58

My name is Brian Barkley and I will be 46 in November. I was born and raised in Carlisle Pennsylvania. I have an older sister and younger brother. My daddy died when I was 10. I have an awesome Mom who raised us three kids by herself.

After graduating high school in June 1986, my Mom, brother, and I spent 2 weeks with 32 others in Hawaii on a Girl Scout trip. Yes, I said Girl Scout. lol. While on the trip I met this beautiful girl, Stacey. Three years later we were married. This year we celebrated our 25th Anniversary. We have 2 girls. Rachael 18 who is a freshman at college, and Rebecca 16 who is a junior in High School.

In 1990 Stacey and I moved to Maryland where I started my career as a copier technician with Lanier. Then in January of 2006 we felt the Lord moving us to beautiful east Tennessee to a town called Mount Carmel. It feels like I lived here my whole life. I was able to transfer, and almost 24 years later I am still with the same company (now called Ricoh). I attend Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport TN, where I volunteer with the youth and the sound ministry.

My racing career started in 1999 with Nascar 99. I then began racing Nascar 3 and then Nascar 2003. A friend and I raced on a LAN almost every Saturday for about a year. One Saturday he would bring his computer to my house and the next weekend I would go to his house. We raced against the AI. He was about to move and that is what got me interested in online racing. So I did a search one day and found Christian Racing and have been here ever since. My friend never did move, but I did. Even though I left my “real” friends behind, my online friends were there just as before. What a blessing that was. You guys really helped me through that transition. I have been racing here at Christian Racing since around 2003. Christian Racing is the first and only league I’ve raced in. That was with Nascar 2003. Then we moved onto ARCA Sim Racing and Rfactor with SCE mod and now iRacing

.I have built so many friendships here at CR. I went to the LAN event in 2005 and met a lot of you in person. In my travels I always try to see who else from Christian Racing I can meet. It is always great to put faces with the guys on the track. I have made some life long friendships here. I have been a moderator here for the past 3 plus years, and in October of 2014 have accepted the position as President of Christian Racing.

See you on the track!
